We are currently looking for graduate students and postgraduate students
who feel that they are in a position to provide useful advice to others
and would like to participate in the program.
The following commitments are required from a mentor:
Motivation, a bit of patience and courtesy when dealing with mentorees
The willingness to donate some of your time to the program. Your presence
is required at the Undergraduate Luncheon ( ~ 1 ½ hours) where
you will be briefed in detail about the program. The luncheon will provide
a casual opportunity for undergraduates to make initial connection with
mentors in their fields of interest. Undergrads will be encouraged to
approach mentors whenever they have any specific questions throughout
the course of the conference. However, it will also be made clear that
all mentors have their own important issues to deal with, which may have
to take priority sometimes.
The willingness to wear color-coded stickers on your conference badge
throughout the course of the conference, identifying you as a mentor and
indicating your specific fields of expertise to allow undergrads to easily
identify an "expert" in the research field they are interested
in.
The willingness to provide us with some information about yourself (i.e.
nationality, languages spoken, affiliation, academic status, field of
expertise, that we will compile in a little information booklet for the
undergrads).
Advance Registration
via the website is highly encouraged so that we might plan a beneficial
experience for all involved in the mentor program
