We’re looking for a student committed to public education and outreach to participate in our citizen science programCOASST (Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team) for 2-15 hours per week. With more than 400 volunteers manning (and womanning) over 250 beaches in Washington, Oregon, California, and Alaska, our main office needs help! Every day we get volunteer data, phonecalls, questions from natural resource managers, and last minute crises of every imaginable stripe. If you are someone who can roll with the punches; if you possess the social skills to cajole volunteers to “get out there in February;” if you have the attention to detail to enter and check volunteer data, sleuth out picky details buried in mountains of library material, and check in hundreds of photographs of beached birds, this position may be for you. Students with multiple quarters to participate are preferred. Check out the COASST website (www.COASST.org) for more details on the program.
