Graduate Program Coordinator
Dr. Loveday Conquest, conquest@u.washington.edu, is the SAFS Associate Director and Graduate Program Coordinator. She oversees the hiring of SAFS TA’s and also serves as the supervisor of the SAFS Lead TA. She is also a great person to speak with if, on the rare occasion, you have issues about your TAship that you haven’t been able to resolve when speaking directly with your faculty supervisor.
SAFS Lead TA
Kristi Straus is the 2006-2008 Lead Teaching Assistant for SAFS. The school hires a seasoned Teaching Assistant to coordinate training activities and facilitate the teaching experience for graduate students who are TAing in SAFS. This person coordinates the College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences TA Practical Training, which happens between mid-September and the start of Autumn Quarter, as well as organizing ongoing trainings and meetings throughout the year. (Nathalie Hamel was the SAFS Lead TA during 2002-2004 and, in addition to fulfilling her other responsibilities, played a large role in developing the content of the SAFS Teaching website.)
SAFS Student Services Office
The SAFS Student Services Office comprises an undergraduate and graduate advisor (safs@u.washington.edu). This office coordinates the hiring of TAs for the department, sends out appointment letters and job descriptions and can serve as an overall resource for TAs in the department.

CIDR provides individual consultation and workshops for faculty and teaching assistants, especially in the area of course development, assessment and grading. They also run an annual TA Conference that happens between September 16th and the start of Autumn Quarter, which all TAs are required to attend once. - UW TA Webpage
