The Fisheries Interdisciplinary Network of Students (FINS)
is the graduate student organization within the School of Aquatic and
Fishery Sciences (SAFS). FINS acts as an umbrella for a group of
committees that operate in the interests of the graduate student community.
These include: GCC, FacCom,
GSS, FSC, COGS,
GPSS.
Graduate Curriculum
Committee (GCC) - The GCC consists of 4-5 grads that meet every other week to discuss curriculum issues. In alternate weeks, 2 (rotating) members attend the faculty curriculum meeting and represent the opinions of the graduate student community. All graduate students are welcome to attend GCC meetings (schedule). Pertinent information is dessiminated.
Graduate Faculty
Committee (FacCom) - The FacCom consists of 3-4 grads that attend faculty meetings to represent the interests of the graduate student community. Pertinent information is dessiminated.
Graduate Student
Symposium (GSS) - The GSS committee organizes and implements the
annual research symposium for grad students in the School of Aquatic
and Fishery Sciences. The one-day event is an opportunity for grads
to showcase their research and present it to faculty and students. Visit

Conference of Graduate
Students (COGS) - The COGS committee organizes and implements the
annual retreat for grad students in the School of Aquatic and Fishery
Sciences. This weekend event held at the beginning of each academic
year is an opportunity for grads to meet, find commmon ground, and learn

Graduate & Professional
Student Senate (GPSS) - SAFS senators represent the interests and opinions of SAFS grad students to the entire UW grad student community. GPSS lobbies the WA legislature on behalf of UW grad students, represents grad students in local governmental affairs, and deals with grad student issues on campus.
