Gilbert to commemorate the life and work of her late husband's grandfather, Charles Henry Gilbert, a pioneer ichthyologist and fishery biologist, expert on Pacific salmon, and noted conservationist of the Northwest. This fund supports students conducting research in ichthyology at the University of Washington.
