Shortcut URL for Online Course Readings
For online course readings, some faculty and TAs have provided direct links to publications available via the UW Library electronic reserves. However, this bypasses the conditional agreement page ("Accept" or "Decline"), which goes against copyright policy that has enabled online readings in the first place. Recently the Suzzallo Library instituted changes such that you now must go to the webpage where you accept the terms and conditions for viewing copyrighted material online before you can access the readings.
Yes, this means that providing the direct (very long) URL to a given reading no longer works. A common complaint, however, has been the number of steps involved to get to the readings list. You can streamline access as follows:
- Go to http://catalog.lib.washington.edu/search/r
- Type course name (spell out "Fisheries"), click "search" or type "enter"
- Next page, click link to electronic reserves (+LIST OF ELECTRONIC MATERIALS FOR ...)
- Next page, copy the long URL and use for course reading links
